Working with high-intensity stage lighting, heavy overhead rigging, and complex electrical grids requires strict adherence to safety protocols.
Rigging & Studio Safety Protocols
Overhead Rigging & Safety Cables: Mandatory use of secondary safety cables ("gator clips") on all hanging stage lights, speakers, and truss-mounted equipment.
Electrical Safety: Proper power distribution, avoiding daisy-chaining high-draw loads on extension cords, and utilizing ground-fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) in wet or outdoor production environments.
Studio Rules & Operational Conduct
Zero-Tolerance Impairment Policy: Absolutely no operation of heavy staging rigs, lighting consoles, or production equipment under the influence of any substance.
Cable Management & Strike Discipline: Mandatory coiling of cables, safe strike of set pieces, and keeping walkways clear of trip hazards during all live events and lab sessions.

The Discipline: Master the physical and technical foundation of live theater—from set construction and rigging to stage lighting and acoustic management.
The Practical Lab:
Set Design & Structural Rigging: Safe wood and metal framing, backdrop painting, counterweight fly systems, and modular stage assembly.
Lighting & DMX Control: Programming intelligent LED fixtures, shutter cutting, color temperature matching, and operating digital lighting consoles for live theatrical environments.
Acoustic Design & Live Sound: Configuring wireless mic systems, mixing live audio desks, preventing feedback loops, and managing stage monitor mixes.
2. Digital Broadcast & Media Science Labs
The Discipline: Capturing, mixing, and transmitting high-definition digital media for live-streamed events, talk segments, and educational video series.
The Practical Lab:
Multi-Camera Live Switching: Operating switcher hardware (e.g., ATEM units), managing ISO recording feeds, coordinating camera operators via intercom, and live-cutting dynamic scenes.
Lighting & Chroma Key Compositing: Setting up three-point interview lighting, green screen keying, and achieving broadcast-standard depth of field.
Podcast & Audio Engineering: DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) multi-track recording, podcast audio sweetening, compression, and automated distribution workflows.
3. Performance Arts, Improv & Screen Acting

On-Camera Acting & Audition Technique: Working directly in front of the lens, mastering mark hits, eye-line discipline, and micro-expressions for film.

Audio & Video Protocols: Understanding resolution, frame rates, bitrates, codecs, and HDMI/SDI/NDI transmission over local networks.
Optics & Wave Physics: The science of light spectrums, lens focal lengths, sound wave propagation, decibel scaling, and acoustic treatment theory.
